Bashu, the Little Stranger follows a young boy named Bashu who loses his family in a bombing during the Iran-Iraq War and flees to the northern part of Iran. There, amidst cultural and linguistic differences, he is taken in by a woman named Naii and gradually forms a deep bond with her and her family. The film is celebrated for its powerful exploration of identity, trauma, love and cultural diversity, and was voted the “Best Iranian Film of all time” in a 1999 poll of Iranian critics and professionals.
