I heard that the Sultan of Rome wept

For a noble man of knowledge

I have no safe place left from the enemy

Only this castle and city remain with me

I tried hard for my son

To be the leader of the community after me

Now the evil enemy has gained control

Overcame my efforts and outshone my bravery

What plan should I make, what cure should I find?

For my soul has worn out from grief within me

He said: O brother, worry about yourself

As you have had a better and longer life

This much suffices for you to remain

When you leave, the world is for someone else

Whether he is wise or foolish

Do not worry about him, for he worries about himself

The hardship is not worth holding onto the world

Taking it with a sword and then leaving it behind

Do not boast about this five-day stay

Make plans for leaving instead

Which king from the kings of Persia do you know

From the time of Fereydun, Zahhak, and Jamshid

Whose throne and kingdom did not decline?

None remain but the kingdom of the Most High God

Who has hope of eternal staying

When you see no one who stays forever?

Whose silver and gold, treasure and wealth remained

After him are trampled upon after a while

And from the one whose good deeds remain alive

His soul is continuously showered with mercy

Greatness from whom no good name remains

Can be said to those with a heart that he did not remain

Except for the one who cultivates the tree of generosity

Hoping to benefit from its fruit

Be generous for tomorrow when the records are set

They grant ranks based on the extent of kindness

One whose efforts go further

In the presence of God, his rank is higher

Another who is deceitful and ashamed is left behind

The man who did nothing fears

Let him bite the back of his hand in regret

Such a hot oven and he never baked bread

You will understand when you gather the grain

That it was laziness not to sow the seed
