Section 14 - A story: One night, the smoke of the people lit a fire
One night, the people's smoke ignited a fire
I heard that half of Baghdad burned
Someone expressed gratitude amidst the ashes and smoke
That our shop was not harmed
A world-weary person told him: Oh foolish one
Do you only care about your own sorrow?
Would you like a city to burn in fire
Even if your house is spared?
Only a stone-hearted person feels no pain in their stomach
When they see others with stones on their bellies from hunger
How can a wealthy person eat that morsel
When they see that the poor are consuming their own blood from suffering?
Do not say that the healthy are troubled
For they writher from sorrow like the sick
The distressed ones, when their friends arrive at their destination
Do not sleep, for the stranded ones disapprove
The hearts of kings become burdened
When they see a donkey laden with thorns stuck in the mud
If there is anyone in the house of happiness
A word from Saadi's speech is enough
It is enough for you if you listen
That if you sow thorns, you will not reap jasmine
