Section 14 - Tale: I heard of a young boy who was fasting.

I heard that a minor was fasting

With great hardship, he brought his meal at dawn.

That day, no guide led him to the book

His devotion grew from the child’s innocence.

His father kissed his eyes, and his mother his head

They scattered almonds and gold upon his head.

When half a day had passed for him

He fell victim to the burning fire of his stomach.

He thought to himself, 'If I eat a bite or two'

What would my father or mother know?

As long as the son’s face was with his father and kin

He secretly ate, but his fasting appeared intact.

Who knows when you are not bound by the truth

If you stand for prayer without ablution?

Then this elder is more ignorant than that foolish child

Who performs worship for the sake of people.

The key to hell lies in that prayer

That you stretch out for the eyes of others.

If your path does not lead to the truth

Your prayer mat will be cast into the fire.
