In the name of the Lord of both wisdom and mind

To nothing sublimer can thought way find

He saw a fox without hands and feet

And was astonished by God's grace and creation.

How does it live?

Without these hands and feet, where does it eat from?

While the distraught dervish was in this thought

A lion appeared with a jackal in its claws.

The lion ate the unfortunate jackal

Leaving what the fox ate its fill of from it.

The next day, it happened again

That the Provider gave him his daily sustenance.

Certainly, this made the man see clearly

And he went and relied on the Creator.

That from now on I will sit in a corner like an ant

For elephants do not forcibly take sustenance that is not theirs.

He tucked his chin into his collar for some time

That the Giver would send sustenance from the unseen.

Neither stranger nor friend cared for him

Until only his tendons, bones, and skin remained like a harp.

When his patience ran out due to weakness and loss of consciousness

He heard a voice from the wall of his prayer niche:

Go and be a hunting lion, O deceitful one

Do not throw yourself down like a lame fox.

Strive in such a way that something remains from you like the lion

Why be like a fox, feeding on leftovers?

When the one who has a thick neck like a lion

If he falls like a fox, a dog is better than him.

Seize and share with others

Do not rely on the leftovers of others.

Eat as much as you can with your own strength

For your effort will be in your own balance.

Like men, endure hardship and bring comfort

An effeminate man eats the labor of others.

O young man, take the hand of the old dervish

Do not throw yourself down so that I take your hand.

God has mercy on that servant

From whose existence people are in comfort.

Generosity is shown by the head that has a brain in it

For the base are without brain and skin (without substance).

Someone sees good in both worlds

Who does good to God's creation.
