Section 29 - On the Fruits of Good Deeds in the Afterlife: Someone dreamt of the plains of resurrection.
Someone saw the plain of Resurrection in a dream,
The surface of the earth was like molten copper from the sun.
A cry arose from the people towards the heavens,
Their brains were boiling from its heat.
One person from this crowd was in a shade,
With an adornment of paradise around his neck.
He asked, “O arranger of gatherings,
Who was your support in this gathering?”
He said, “I had a vine at the door of my house,
A good man slept in its shade.”
At this time of despair, that man,
Sought forgiveness for my sins from the Just Creator.
Saying, ‘O Lord, have mercy on this servant,
From whom I once saw comfort.’”
What did I say when I solved this mystery?
Good tidings to the Lord of Shiraz.
That the public is under the shade of his generosity,
Residing and at his table of blessings.
A man of generosity is a fruitful tree,
And the firewood of the mountains passes him by.
If they strike the firewood with an axe,
When will they strike a fruitful tree?
Be very steadfast, O tree of art/skill/virtue,
For you both bear fruit and provide shade.
We have spoken much about kindness,
But it is not a condition (appropriate) for everyone.
Consume the blood and wealth of the tormentor of people,
For from a bad bird, it is better to pluck its feathers and wings.
Someone who is at war with your master,
Why do you give him wood and stone (weapons)?
Uproot the root that brings forth thorns,
Cultivate a tree that bears fruit.
Give the rank of leaders to someone,
Who does not hold his head high over subordinates (is not arrogant).
Do not have mercy on a tyrant wherever he is,
For mercy on him is injustice to the world.
Killing a world-burner is better than a lamp,
One extinguishing a fire is better than a creation in pain.
Whoever has mercy on a thief,
Strikes the caravan with his own arm (harms himself).
Give the heads of the unjust to the wind (destroy them),
Oppression upon the oppressor is justice and fairness.
