Section 3 - The Story of Abraham (peace be upon him): I heard a wayfarer stayed for a week.

I heard that for a week, a traveler

Did not come to Khalil's (Abraham's) guesthouse.

Due to his blessed nature, he would not eat at mealtime

Unless a poor person arrived on the road.

He went out and looked in every direction

He looked around the valley and saw.

Alone, one in the desert like a willow

His head and hair white from the dust of old age.

He greeted him with kindness

He gave him a welcome in the manner of generous people.

Saying, 'O pupil of my eyes'

Show some kindness with bread and salt (hospitality).

He said 'yes,' stood up, and took a step

For he knew his nature, peace be upon him.

Those present in Khalil's guesthouse

Seated the humble old man with honor.

He ordered and they prepared the table

Everyone sat on each side.

When the group began with 'In the name of God'

No word from the old man was heard.

He said to him: 'O old man of long days'

Like old men, I do not see truth and fervor in you.

Is it not necessary when you eat your daily bread

To mention the name of the Lord who provides?

He said, 'I do not follow a path'

That I have not heard from the old fire-worshipper (Zoroastrian priest).'

The prophet of good omen understood

That the old man was a Zoroastrian whose condition was corrupt.

He drove him away with contempt when he saw him as a stranger

Who was considered impure by the pure ones.

A revelation came from the glorious Creator

Reproaching him with awe, 'O Khalil (Abraham)'

I have given him sustenance and life for a hundred years

And you felt hatred for him for one moment.

Even if he prostrates himself before fire

Why do you withhold your hand of generosity?
