Section 5 - A story about recognizing friends and enemies: I heard that the noble one of blessed lineage
I heard that the blessed ruler of noble descent
Was separated from his army on the day of hunting
A shepherd hurried to him in front
In his heart, the ruler of noble faith said
Could this be an enemy who has come to fight?
I will strike him from afar with an arrow of destruction
He straightened his Kiyani bowstring
In a moment, he wished for his existence to cease
He said, O Lord of Iran and Turan
May the evil eye be far from your time
I am the one who breeds the horses of kings
And I bring them to serve in this pasture
The king's heart, once lost, came back to its place
He smiled and said: O misguided one, how wrong your thoughts are
Fortune and success have granted you assistance
Otherwise, I would have brought my bow to your ear
The guardian of the pasture smiled and said:
Advice from a generous man should not be hidden
It is not a good strategy or wise opinion
That the enemy cannot tell the difference between king and friend
Thus, in the realm of leadership, it is a condition of life
That you must know who is who among your subjects
You have seen me many times in the presence of the king
You have asked about the herds and pastures
Now, I come to greet you with affection
Not knowing how to escape from an ill-thinking mind
I am capable, O renowned king
I can bring forth a horse from among a hundred thousand
My ability as a shepherd is through intellect and wisdom
You too, shepherd your own flock, carefully and wisely
In the throne and kingdom, there was no room for sorrow
For the king’s leadership was lacking that of the shepherd’s guidance
