Section 5 - Discussion on expressing gratitude for blessings: The night is for your comfort, and the day for your work.
The night is for your comfort, and the day
The bright moon and the world-illuminating sun
The sky, like a servant, spreads the spring for you
Spreads the carpet of spring
If there is wind and snow, and rain and fog
Or if the thunder strikes the sword-like lightning
All the agents are obedient
That they may nurture your seed in the soil
If you remain thirsty, do not seek from hardship
For the water-carrier of the cloud will bring you water on his shoulder
From the soil come color and fragrance and food
A sight for the eyes and delight for the brain and palate
He gave you honey from the bee and me from the air
He gave you dates from the palm and the palm from a seed
All the palm-gardeners bite their hands in amazement
In wonder that no one has ever tied such a palm!
The sun and the moon and the Pleiades are for you
The chandeliers of the ceiling of your abode
He brings you roses from thorns and musk from navel
Gold from the mine and fresh leaves from dry wood
He inscribed your eyes and brows with his own hand
So that you cannot trust strangers
The mighty one who raised the precious one
Has nurtured him with such colorful blessings
To the soul, he said, 'Breath after breath
For his thanks, is not just the work of the tongue
Oh God, my heart has become blood and my eyes sore
For I see your bounties are beyond words
I do not speak of beasts and birds and ants and fish
For the hosts of angels in the heights of heaven
Still, they have said little thanks to you
Out of thousands, one has been said
O Saadi, go and wash your hands and book
Do not strive for a path that has no end
