Section 5 - The Story of Jesus (PBUH), the Worshiper, and the Impious: I heard from the narrators of words.
In the name of the Lord of both wisdom and mind
To nothing sublimer can thought way find
I have heard from narrators of speech
That in the era of Jesus (peace be upon him)
There was one who had wasted his life
Had brought his end through ignorance and misguidance
A bold, hard-hearted, blacklisted one
Ashamed by the impurity of Iblis within him
Spent his days in fruitlessness
No heart found peace from him
His head void of wisdom and dignity
His belly fat from forbidden morsels
His garment stained with dishonesty
His name tarnished with disgrace
No eyes like those of the righteous
No ears like those who heed advice
Like an ill-omened year, people avoided him
Visible to all like a new moon from afar
His desire and lust burned his harvest
He did not gather a stream of good reputation
His blackened record led him to such luxury
That there was no room left for writing in his record
Sinner, self-willed, and lustful
Day and night drunk and heedless
I heard that Jesus came from the desert
Passed by the cell of a worshipper
Descended from his secluded chamber
Fell at his feet with his head on the ground
The sinful one whose fortune had turned from afar
Like a butterfly bewildered by their light
Reflecting with regret, ashamed
Like a beggar in the hands of a wealthy person
Ashamed, muttering apologies with sorrow
For the nights turned into days in heedlessness
Tears of sorrow raining from his eyes like clouds
That my life passed in heedlessness, oh regret!
I squandered the precious currency of my life
In my hand, I gained nothing of goodness
May no one alive ever be like me
For his death would be much better than his life
Blessed is he who died in childhood
For he did not suffer the shame of old age
In the name of the Lord of both wisdom and mind
To nothing sublimer can thought way find
Forgive my sin, O Creator of the world
For if it comes with me, it is indeed a bad companion
His head hung down in shame
Tears of regret flowing from his eyes
In this corner, the old, wailing sinner
Crying out for help, O Saviour
And from that side, the half-pious one with a head full of pride
Frowning at the sinner from afar
Why is this unfortunate one following us?
What does this ignorant wretch have to do with us?
You have fallen into the fire by your own neck
You have given your life to the wind of desire
What good came from his indulgent self
That he was in the company of Christ and his path?
What would it be to remove the trouble from before you
And go to Hell after your deeds
I am troubled by his unpleasant appearance
Lest his fire falls upon me
When the assembly is present on Judgment Day
O God, do not resurrect me with him
He was in this state, and a revelation came from the Majestic
To Jesus, peace be upon him
Whether this one is learned or that one ignorant
I accepted the invitation of both
The one who ruined his days and turned his nights
Cried out to me in wailing and burning pain
Whoever comes to me in helplessness
I will not cast him away from the threshold of my grace
I forgave his vile deeds
With my favor, I brought him into Paradise
In the name of the Lord of both wisdom and mind
To nothing sublimer can thought way find
And if the devout worshiper is ashamed
To sit with him in paradise
Tell him not to be ashamed of him on Judgment Day
For he will be taken to heaven, and this one to hell
For his liver was bloodied by burning and pain
If this one relied on his own obedience
He did not know in the court of the rich
That helplessness is better than pride and self
Whose garment is clean but character filthy
Should not have the key to his hell
At this threshold, helplessness and humility
Are better than obedience and self-righteousness
If you count yourself among the good, you are bad
Selfishness does not fit into divinity
If you are manly, do not speak of your manliness
Not every knight carries off the ball
An onion is all skin, without skill
That thought it had a kernel like a pistachio
This kind of obedience is of no use
Go and bring excuses for your neglected obedience
Whether the disheveled, unfortunate vagabond
Or the ascetic who works hard on himself
Strive for piety, abstinence, sincerity, and purity
But do not add to Mustafa
Do not rely on worship for that fool
Who was good with God but bad with people
Wise people leave their words as a legacy
Remember this one saying from Saadi
A sinner mindful of God
Is better than a pious hypocrite
