Section 6 - A statement about the plight of the oppressed subjects: When will you hear the cry of the plaintiff?

When will you hear the cries of the oppressed?

In the sky, where is your head resting in sleep?

You sleep so deeply that your cry will not reach anyone’s ear

If the oppressed shout for justice, their voice will be drowned in a roar

Who will lament the tyrant who is near you?

For every injustice they commit is yours to bear

No dog has torn the caravan’s veil

It is the ignorant farmer who has raised the dog

You have come boldly, Saadi, with your words

When your sword is in hand, make victory yours

Say what you know, for the truth has been spoken

Neither seek bribes, nor offer flirtation

Cut the bonds of greed, and wash away the ledger of wisdom

Break the chains of desire, and speak of all that you know
