Section 9 - Story of enmity between two people: There was hatred and war between two individuals
Between two men, there was enmity and war
They raised their heads against each other like leopards
To such an extent they avoided each other
That the sky felt narrow to both
Fate brought the army of death upon one
His days of joy came to an end
His ill-wisher was inwardly pleased
After some time, he passed by his grave
He saw the chamber of his grave darkened
That once saw golden adornments
He gracefully came to his bedside
Saying to himself with a smile
Blessed is the time of that one
Who, after his enemy's death, is in the embrace of a friend
One should not weep after the death of someone
Who lived a day after the death of his enemy
Out of enmity, with strength
He tore a plank off his grave
He saw his crowned head in the pit
His world-seeing eyes filled with dust
His being trapped in the prison of the grave
His body a feast for worms and prey for ants
His bones so tightly packed with dirt
That his ivory turned into kohl in the earth's eye
The full moon of his face became a crescent from the turning of the heavens
From the cruelty of time, his cypress-like stature became frail
The palm and strong fingers
Were separated by the days from their bonds
Such mercy came from his heart for him
That he kneaded his grave's earth with tears
He repented of his deeds and vile nature
He ordered these words to be inscribed on his gravestone
Do not rejoice at anyone's death
For your world will not last long after them
A wise mystic heard this saying
And lamented, 'O Omnipotent Creator'
It would be surprising if you do not show mercy to him
For even his enemy wept over him in sorrow
Our bodies too will one day become like that
That our enemies' hearts will burn for us
Unless my friend shows mercy in his heart for me
When he sees that my enemy forgives me
Things will eventually reach a point
Where one would say there were never any eyes in it
One day, I struck a mound of earth with a pickaxe
A painful wail reached my ear
Saying, 'Beware, if you are a man, be more gentle'
For it is eyes, ears, face, and head
