Hekayat 26: A tyrant bought firewood from dervishes.

They tell a story of a tyrant who bought the firewood of dervishes cheaply and gave it to the wealthy for free. A man of heart (a wise man) passed by him and said:

You are a snake that strikes whoever you see

Or an owl that ruins wherever you perch.

If your power prevails over us

It will not prevail over the all-knowing God.

Do not exert power over the people of the earth

Lest a prayer ascends to heaven.

The ruler was offended by his words and turned away from his advice and paid no attention to him, until one night the kitchen fire fell into his firewood store and burned all his other possessions and brought him from his soft bed to the warm ashes. By chance, the same person passed by him and saw him saying to his companions: I don't know where this fire came from in my house? He said: From the hearts of the dervishes.

Beware of the pain of wounded hearts

For the wound within will eventually fester.

Do not break a heart as long as you can

For a sigh can disrupt a world.

It was written on the crown of Kay Khosrow:

How many abundant years and long lives

That people will have walked on the earth over us.

Just as the kingdom has come to us from hand to hand

So it will also go to other hands.
