One of the righteous men of Lebanon, whose ranks were mentioned in the land of the Arabs and whose miracles were famous, entered the Damascus Mosque and was performing ablutions by the side of the Kallaseh pool; his foot slipped, and he fell into the pool and escaped from that place with difficulty.

When they finished praying, one of his companions said: I have a question; if it is permissible to ask.

He said: What is it?

He said: I remember that the Sheikh walked on the surface of the Western Sea and his feet did not get wet, what was the situation today that in this small pool he almost drowned?!

The Sheikh went into deep thought and after much contemplation raised his head and said: Have you not heard that the master of the world, peace be upon him, said: 'I have a time with God in which neither a close angel nor a sent prophet can contain me.' And he did not say 'always'? At such a time as he said, he would not attend to Gabriel and Michael, and at other times he would spend time with Hafsa and Zaynab.

The observation of the righteous is between manifestation and concealment.

They show and they steal (hearts).

You show your face and then abstain,

You sharpen your market and our fire.

I behold the one I love without any means,

Then a matter befalls me that I lose my way.
