Hekayat No. 14: Moses, peace be upon him, saw a dervish

Moses, peace be upon him, saw a dervish who, due to nakedness, was lying on the sand.

He said: 'O Moses! Pray that God, the Almighty and Glorious, gives me enough sustenance, for I am at my wit's end due to destitution.'

Moses prayed and left.

After a few days when he returned from his communion with God, he saw the man imprisoned and a large crowd gathered around him.

He said: 'What is this situation?'

They said: 'He drank wine, caused a commotion, and killed someone; now they have ordered his execution in retribution.'

If a poor cat had wings

It would eradicate the sparrows from the world

A helpless person, should he gain power

Will rise up and oppress the helpless

And if Allah were to extend provision for His servants, they would surely transgress in the earth.

Moses, peace be upon him, acknowledged the wisdom of the Creator of the world and asked forgiveness for his presumption.

What has plunged you, O deluded one, into danger?

Until you are destroyed; how I wish the ant had not flown!

When a servant gains status and wealth

A blow to his head will necessarily befall him

Have you not heard what Plato said?

It is better for an ant not to have wings.

The father has a lot of honey, but the son has a hot temper.

He who does not make you wealthy knows your best interests better than you do.
