A pious man passed by one of the wealthy men who was punishing a slave whose hands and feet were firmly bound. He said: 'O son, God Almighty has made a creature like you captive to your command and has given you superiority over him; give thanks for God's blessing and do not inflict so much injustice upon him, lest he be better than you on the Day of Judgment and you suffer shame.'

Do not be excessively angry with the slave

Do not oppress him and do not hurt his heart

You bought him for ten dirhams

But you did not create him by your power

How long will this command, arrogance, and anger last?

There is a God greater than you

O master of Arsalan and Aaghush (likely names of slaves)

Do not forget your own commander (God)

It is narrated from the Master of the World (Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) who said: 'The greatest regret on the Day of Judgment will be when a righteous slave is taken to Paradise and a wicked master is taken to Hell.'

Do not have excessive anger and rage

Towards a slave who willingly serves you

For it will be a disgrace on the Day of Reckoning

The slave is free and the master is in chains
