حکمت شماره ۵۴: مشک آن است که ببوید نه آن که عطار بگوید.
Musk is what smells [fragrant], not what the perfumer says [it is].
مشک آن است که ببوید نه آن که عطار بگوید.
The wise person is like a perfumer's box, silent and displaying their skill, while the ignorant person is like a warrior's drum, loud and empty.
دانا چو طبلهٔ عطار است خاموش و هنرنمای و نادان خود طبل غازی بلند آواز و میان تهی.
A learned person among ignorant people
Has been given an example by truthful ones:
عالم اندر میان جاهل را
مثلی گفته‌اند صدیقان
He is like a beautiful person among the blind,
Or a Quran in the house of heretics.
شاهدی در میان کوران است
مصحفی در سرای زندیقان
