Section 11: If the country was empty of Zahhak

When the land was void of Zahhak's rule

A ruler arose, like a road to treasure

He possessed treasures, a throne, and a palace

Amazed at his heart, the chief of the village

They called him by his name, praising him

Slowly he moved forward, stepping toward injustice

He entered the palace, running with haste

In the courtyard, he saw a new crown bearer

Sitting calmly in the presence

Like a tall cypress, his form beside the moon

With one hand, a slender cypress, the city's pride

In the other hand, the moon-faced beloved

The whole city filled with his army

Warriors lined up, ready at the door

He did not become confused nor sought answers

He prayed and took him for his prayer

He praised him, saying, O king

Live forever, as long as time endures

Fortunate you sit with knowledge and insight

For you are worthy of the kingship

The seven nations of the world shall be your subjects

May your head rise above the storm clouds

Fereydun commanded him to go forth

To reveal openly all his secrets

The brave king commanded him to go ahead

To seek the tools of the royal throne

Prepare the wine and call the musicians

Fill the cup and prepare the feast

He who is worthy of my joy and celebration

With knowledge, the one who lifts my heart

Bring the gathering and place them on my throne

Just as is fitting for my destiny

When the chief heard these words from him

He did what the guide advised him to do

He brought bright wine and musicians

Along with noblemen adorned with gems

Fereydun cast aside sorrow and chose joy

He held a celebration that night, as befitted him

When the world became calm, he hurried out

He came forth from the presence of the new leader

He mounted his steed seeking the path

And set out towards King Zahhak

When he arrived before the general

He told everything he had seen and heard

He said to him, 'O king of the proud

The sign of your downfall has come'

Three noble men with an army

Have come from another land

Among them, one is a young leader

Tall as a cypress, with the visage of kings

Though young, he surpasses the elders in stature

He steps ahead of those nobles

He has a mace like a piece of a mountain

It shines among the crowd

He entered the royal court on horseback

Two nobles alongside him on the path

He came, sat on the royal throne

And subdued all your traps and tricks

Everyone in your palace

Among your men and demons

He toppled them from head to toe

Mixing all their brains with blood

Zahhak said to him, 'It may be so

That a guest should be happy'

His servant replied thus

That a guest with a bull-headed mace

Sits manfully at ease with you

And strips your name from the crown and belt

The ungrateful one brought his own customs

If you know the guest, you shall recognize him

Zahhak said to him, Do not mourn this much

For an insolent guest is better in omen

He responded to him, the servant of the land

Yes, I heard you, now listen to me

If your guest is renowned

What is his place in your palace?

Who sits with the daughters of the world lord Jam

He does not decide the fate of more or less

With one hand, he holds the face of the city’s pride

With the other, he holds the ruby lips of his beloved

The dark night makes his movements swift

Under his head, he arranges a pillow of musk

Like the two locks of hair, the two moons of yours

Which were always the desire of your heart

He grabs and takes them when half-drunk

Such a guest should not be held in hand

Zahhak was enraged and sent the wolf

He heard those words and brought death as his work

With foul insults and harsh sounds

He stirred up a wonder with misfortune

He said to him, You shall never again be in my house

From now on, you will not be my guardian

The servant replied to him

I think so, O king

For such a fate will never be yours

If you give me the leadership of the city

When you are without the aid of the time of the moon

What can you offer me in the work of creation?

Why do you not do your own work?

For you never came before in this work

From the crown of greatness, like hair from dough

You came out, O moon, the solver of problems

Your enemy arrived, and at the time, he sat upon it

A club in the hand, like a bull's body

All your tricks and ties are undone by color

Dalaram took it and left it in its place
