Section 11: The news reached the King of the Turks
A message reached the Turkish king’s side
That from such heroes the world had been deprived
His heart filled with fire from sorrow and grief
He wept blood for his pain, in deep disbelief
He became enraged and asked, 'Where is Nowzar, I pray?'
For from him, Viseh desires to take revenge today
What is the solution but to spill his blood, to win?
To awaken fresh hatred, where does it begin?
He ordered the executioner, to drag him along
Take him, that he may learn to live dishonored, wronged
When Nowzar’s general became aware of the plight
He realized that the day had grown too short for the fight
An army, full of murmurs and of chatter loud
They moved towards King Nowzar, their heads bowed
They tied his arms tightly, no mercy found
Dragged him from his place, toward the beast unbound
They brought him to the field, stripped and bare
Naked, with head and feet exposed, in despair
When from a distance, he saw him, his tongue did speak
He remembered the hatred of his ancestors, so bleak
From Tur and Salm, first he came with rage
His heart and eyes washed clean from royal shame's cage
He said to him, 'Every evil gets what it deserves,' indeed
He spoke and became enraged, demanding a sword to proceed
He struck the crowned King Khusrow’s head
His body fell to the ground, dishonored and dead
That was the legacy of King Manuchehr’s reign
Iran was left barren, with no throne to sustain
O wise man, with a mind full of schemes
Do not cover yourself in the tent of greed’s dreams
How many thrones and crowns like yours have been seen
How many such tales will you hear in the scene?
You have reached a place where you once hurried to
The end has come, where your wishes are through
What do you seek from this dark, miserable earth?
That will return you to a state of desperate worth?
For if the revolving heavens take you from this place
At last, your bed will be dust in space
Then they humiliated the relatives and kin
And asked for their life with a plea of sin
When Aghirith, the talented, saw this fate
His heart burned as if it were fire's state
He said, 'How many innocent lives have been lost'
Separated from their bodies by the king’s cost
He came, tumultuous, to ask for mercy
Adorned with the renowned title of justice, so terse
That so many proud and brave warriors here
Not with spears and armor, nor in battle’s sphere
They were caught not for killing, nor were they great
They were in a place where they once were in high state
It would be just if no harm befalls their life
And you grant their freedom, their chains to bind
I will place them in a cave, a prison's door
I will keep them safe, wise minds to guard them more
To Sari, in distress, they will be brought to reason
You shall refrain from bloodshed and excessive treason
He spared their lives with his words so wise
When he heard of their suffering and their cries
He ordered them to take them to Sari town
In chains, in shackles, with honor cast down
When this was done, they prepared for the journey’s pace
The earth beneath the horses, felt a tight embrace
They drew toward Ray from the village ahead
The horses strained, and hardship spread
He placed the Kiani crown upon his head
And in exchange for gold, the gate was spread
