Section 12: This too passed for a while
And so, after some time had passed,
The king gazed upon Iraj’s chamber at last.
He saw a beauty with a face divine,
Her name was Mah-Afarid, celestial and fine.
Iraj held deep affection for her grace,
And fate decreed she carried his child in embrace.
The fairy-faced bore a child, hidden from sight,
Which filled the world’s king with delight.
From that fair face, his heart brimmed with hope,
To avenge his son, his heart found new scope.
When the time for birth drew near,
A daughter was born to Mah-Afarid, dear.
The world gathered to nurture her rise,
She grew in grace and stature, a prize.
From head to toe, that moon-like face,
Seemed as if Iraj himself had taken her place.
When she matured and the time for marriage came,
Her face was like Pleiades, her hair like musk, aflame.
Her grandfather betrothed her to Pashang, the wise,
And after a while, they joined in ties.
A son was born to that skillful, moon-faced pair,
Worthy of the throne and crown to bear.
When he parted from his loving mother’s care,
They quickly brought him to his grandfather, fair.
The priest said to him, "O crown-bearer of worth,
Rejoice, for Iraj’s spirit is reborn on this earth."
The world-giver’s lips filled with a joyful glow,
As if Iraj had returned from death’s shadow.
He held the precious child close to his chest,
And prayed to the Creator with his heart’s best.
He said, "May this day be auspicious and bright,
And may our foes’ hearts be torn in fright."
Remembering the world’s Creator in his plea,
He sought grace and vision for eternity.
When Fereydun saw the world’s light anew,
He swiftly glanced at the child with joy true.
He said, "From a pure mother and father divine,
A worthy branch has grown from this line."
The bright wine flowed from a rich goblet high,
This face bears the name Manuchehr, reaching the sky.
He raised him so that even the wind dared not pass,
For it would be unjust to touch such a class.
A servant who bore him in their embrace,
Allowed him not to set foot on the earth’s face.
At his feet was dark musk
Above his head was a silk canopy
Thus, years passed over him
He never suffered harm from fate
The skills that are useful to kings
The famous king taught him
When the king's eyes and heart were opened
The army also sang in harmony with him
He gave him the golden throne and heavy mace
And the turquoise crown of the leaders
The seven-colored silk pavilion
Inside it were the tents of leopard skins
What Arabian horses with golden trappings
What Indian swords with golden scabbards
What armor, helmets, and Roman chainmail
They loosened the knots of the straps
Chaachian bows and sturdy arrows
In this way, the treasures were adorned
Which he had gathered through hardships
He saw all deserving of Manuchehr
He filled his heart with love for him
The key to the adorned treasury
He gave it to his treasurer with the goods
All the warriors of his army
All the nobles of his country
He ordered them to come before him
All came with vengeful hearts
They praised him as king
They scattered emeralds on his crown
When this grand era was a celebration
The sheep became apparent from the wolf in the world
The commander like Qaarn Kawgan
His general like Shiravi and like Awgan
When all the army's work was done
The king's head rose from the flock
