Section 14: Then, the news came to the great king

Then news came to the great king

Of Mehrab and the mighty Sam's hands

Of Mehrab’s bond and Zal's love

And of those mismatched, turned equal

The conversation went in every way with the priests

Before the proud king of the nobles

Thus spoke the wise king to the sages

That dark days may come upon us

When Iran is freed from the lion and tiger’s claws

I shall take it out by counsel and battle

Fereydun washed the world from Zahhak

I fear it will come again from that seed

It should not be that from Zal's foolish love

An equal partner should become humiliated

When from Mehrab's daughter and Sam's son

A sharp sword arises from the scabbard

If it turns towards his mother

His head will scatter from the fragmented speech

He will make the city of Iran full of turmoil and pain

He will return to him, but only a crown and treasure

All the priests praised him

They called him the righteous king

They said you are wiser than us

You are more capable in what is needed

Do as is fitting with wisdom

And break the heart of the dragon with wisdom

He ordered that Nowzar come to him

With his chosen ones and great men

He said to him, go to Sam the rider

And ask him how it went in the battle

When you see him, tell him to turn from this side

And come to our house with counsel

Then the king's son arose

With his chosen ones, heading towards the path

They turned towards Sam, the strong one

With the angry, tattered elephants

When Sam, the hero, learned of this affair

He went to greet the son, who had become king

From the famous father, Nowzar’s son

He came near to Sam, the rider

All the renowned men gathered to receive him

Along with the tattered elephants and banners

Then they arrived before Sam, the rider

The great men and Nowzar, the famous king

He delivered the message from the father, King Nowzar

Sam the hero became joyful upon meeting him

He responded, 'I will command'”

I will bring peace to the soul through meeting him

They set the table and took the cup

First, they mentioned the name of Minu-chohr

Then they celebrated with Nowzar, Sam, and every nobleman

They took joy from every land

The night turned to joy for a long time

When the shining sun revealed its secrets

The cry of the banner came from the door

The brave hero raised his flag

Towards the court of Minu-chohr, the king

They took the path under his command

When Minu-chohr learned of it

He adorned the royal crown

A cry arose from Sari and Amol

Like the green sea, it began to boil

They closed the rituals of the Persian warriors

They left with heavy bricks

The army, whose soldiers stretched from mountain to mountain

Made shields upon shields, red and yellow

With horns, with iron pipes, and cymbals

With Arabian horses, elephants, and treasure

Thus, the army gathered to receive them

Many with banners and flags were gathered

When he arrived near the court

He dismounted, and the king opened the way

When the world ruler smiled

He kissed the ground and moved forward to him

Minu-chohr rose from the ivory throne

A shining ruby crown rested upon his head

He made him sit beside him on the throne

He honored him as was fitting

From those who fought with wolves

And those from the lands of the male demons of Mazandaran

He asked and took much care

The general recalled every word

He said, 'You will remain eternal, O King'

The evil will cease to doubt your soul

I went to the city of the male demons

Not demons, but lions of war gathered around

They were braver than the Arabian horses

More courageous than the brave warriors of Iran

The army called 'the dog pack'

Were like the war leopards

When they received news of me

Their minds became empty from my roar

They raised a roar within the city

And from then on, they left the city

All came to me, warriors seeking battle

They came, dazed and restless

The army stirred, and the day grew dark

Then it rose up and advanced toward the cave

The grandson of the world ruler, the great Selim

Came before the army, like a wolf

An army like ants and locusts

The plains were covered, no mountain or hill in sight

When I rose from that hungry army

The faces of our heroes turned pale

I took a blow from this mace

And left the army there in that place

I let out a roar from behind the saddle

The earth spun like a mill under them

The heart of the army returned to its place

And their resolve turned towards battle

When the cuckoo heard my voice

It struck like a wound from my soldier's sword

He approached me, ready for battle

Like an elephant with a long rope

He wanted to strike with a knife in the loop of his rope

But I bent down to avoid the danger

I seized the Kiānian bow in my hand

With a steel arrow and a dart of fire

I stirred up a mighty eagle

And poured fire onto its axe

I feared it so much that the anvil on his head

It had sewn his brain to his helmet

I looked from the dust like a drunken elephant

A Indian sword rose in my hand

I came as the king thought

That from him, the mountains would need safety

He in haste, I in delay

I sought him, waiting for him to fall into my grasp

When he came near me, triumphant

I stretched my claws from my saddle

I took the belt of the brave man

And removed him from his saddle, like a lion's deed

I struck him to the ground like an elephant

With this iron hand and dust in the air

When the king was overthrown in such disgrace

The army turned back from the battlefield

The ups and downs of the desert and mountain

People had gathered in groups in every direction

Horsemen and foot soldiers, ten thousand and twenty thousand

The fallen emerged in the count

When he heard the words of the king's commander

He raised his blessed crown high

When day overcame the night with effort

The exhaustion settled down into the mountain

The wine and assembly were arranged, and he became joyous

The world seemed pure, free from suspicion and harm

They shortened the night with a festive toast

And with a smile remembered the commander

When night became day, the curtain of the court

Was lifted, and they gave way to the king's path

The great general Sam came

To the presence of the great king Manuchehr

He spoke to Sam, the king of the world

Go from here with the chosen nobles

Set fire to India

Burn all the palaces of Mehrab and Kabul

He should not escape from evil

For he is the offspring of the serpent

From time to time, his roar shall rise

The world will tremble with war and turmoil

Anyone who followed him

The nobles who were in his group

Separate the head from the body, and cleanse the earth

From the bond of Zahhak and his kin

He responded, 'I will do so'

To rid the king of his anger from the heart

He kissed the throne and rubbed his face

And on that famous ring, he left his mark

He laid his head towards his home with his army

And sought the end of his path in that wind
