Section 2: As the sun raised its blade from the midst
When the sun drew its sword from the sheath
The dark night disappeared from the world
The drumbeat rose from the king's court
The warriors put their helmets on their heads
Like Tus, Godarz, and brave Giev
Like Gorgin, Gostaham, and Bahram the lion
The nobles came to the king
They came to that famous court
The king of the world went hunting
With Rostam, the famous hero
The free men left the army
Like Giev and Godarz of the Kashvad family
An army that darkened the sun and moon
The king went with cheetahs and falcons
He traveled all over the land of Iran
He passed through prosperity and ruin
Every land that was not prosperous
Was ruined and desolate from injustice
He gave money and made it prosperous from treasure
He did not suffer from justice and generosity
He sat in every city and set up a throne
Just as Khosrow the fortunate was
He wanted all the purses, cups, and wine
He adorned the world with dinars
And from there, he went to another city
He went with wine, throne, and crown
He went to Azarabadegan
With him were nobles and free men
Sometimes he drank wine and sometimes he raced horses
He came to the house of Azargoshnasp
He praised the creator of the world
He prayed in the fire temple
He came gracefully from that place
They set their heads towards King Kavus
Both sat together happily
They were never anything but happy
When their heads were filled with cups of bright rosewater
They hastened to sleep and rest
When the shining day tore open its garment
It spread rubies on the dark earth
The world ruler and King Kavus sat down
Two proud kings and two noble-footed ones
With Rostam the hero and Dastan together
Kavus spoke of everything, great and small
First, he spoke of Afrasiab
He washed his two faces with the blood of his two eyes
He told what he did to Siavash
He raised dust from all over Iran
Many heroes who lost their lives
Women and young children were twisted in pain
You see many cities of Iran ruined
Destroyed from the suffering caused by Afrasiab
You have everything God wants you to have
From height and knowledge and the strength of your hand
From complete glory and good fortune
You are superior to all kings in every way
Now I want an oath from you
You should not deviate from justice even a little
That you fill your heart with revenge against Afrasiab
Do not bring fire to water for a moment
Do not trust him because of your mother's kinship
Do not deviate and do not consider anyone's words
Do not be deceived by treasure and abundance
Whether you rise or fall
By the crown, throne, ring, and helmet
Do not stray from the path in your words with him
I will tell you what the basis of the oath is
What is the advice for your wisdom and soul
You swear by the creator of the sun and moon
By the sword, by the seal, by the throne, and by the helmet
By the glory and good fortune of God
That you will never turn towards evil
You will not seek an intermediary except for the sword and mace
You will hold his high position and lofty rank
When the young king heard this from him
He turned his face and soul towards the fire
He swore by the creator, the sustainer
By the white day and the azure night
By the sun and moon, by the throne and helmet
By the seal, by the sword, and by the king's diadem
That I will never turn towards his affection
I will not see his face even in my dreams
He wrote a document in Pahlavi script
On the royal register with musk ink
Dastan and Rostam were witnesses to this
All the nobles of the army as well
He placed the document and oath in Rostam's safekeeping
That document, oath, custom, and justice
After that, they wanted food and wine
They arranged all kinds of gatherings
They stayed for a week with music and wine
The nobles in the palace of King Kavus
On the eighth day, the world ruler washed his head and body
He rested and sought a place of prayer
Before the Lord of the revolving heavens
He went and spread his face in praise
From the dark night until the sun rose
His eyes were full of tears, crying out
He said, 'O just and single God'
World ruler, provider, and guide
In the days of youth you left me
Without an army, from the dragon's breath
You know that the leader of the Turanian army
Knows neither restraint nor the shame of sin
His curse is on the ruined and prosperous
The hearts of the innocent are full of his malice
He unjustly spilled the blood of Siavash
He sowed a rain of fire in this land
The hearts of kings are full of fear of him
His throne and diadem are a calamity on the earth
Take my hand in revenge for my father
Have mercy on the soul of old Kavus
You know that his essence is evil
He is also of bad lineage and an enchanter
He rubbed his face on the ground many times
He praised the creator
And from that place, he went back to the throne
To the proud-necked heroes
He said, 'O my famous ones'
My world conquerors and sword wielders
I traversed this land of Iran on horseback
From this border to the house of Azargoshnasp
I did not see anyone who was happy
Was wealthy and his land prosperous
All are wounded by Afrasiab
All hearts full of blood and eyes full of tears
I am the first one whose liver is wounded by him
For my soul and body are full of pain from him
Another is my ancestor, the free king
Who draws cold wind from his heart
In Iran, men and women cry out because of him
From so much killing, looting, war, and turmoil
Now if you are all especially my friends
You are all wholeheartedly my lovers
I will gird my loins for my father's revenge
I will turn this evil away from the Iranians
If you all bring the thought of war
Strive and bring the manner of the leopard
My words will come to pass
The war of heroes will become a mountain of plain
Any blood that is shed in revenge
The guilty one will be hanged
And if anyone from this army is killed
High paradise will be his place
What do you say and what answer do you give to this
All of you, set a fortunate opinion
Know that he who took the lead in evil
The recompense for evil should not be avoided
The nobles prepared to answer
They rose from their places with hearts full of pain
That O famous one of the world, be happy
May you always be free from suffering and sorrow
Our bodies and souls are all before you
Sorrow and joy, little and more, are yours
We are all born of our mothers for death
We are all slaves, even though we are free
When he received such an answer from the elephant rider
From Tus, Godarz, and the assembly
The king's face became like an arghavan flower
For the fortune was young and Khosrow was young
He praised them abundantly
May the earth be prosperous for the warriors
