Section 20: The head of the grudge holder was emptied of grudge
The head of the one filled with hatred grew empty of all enmity
And he fled towards the fortress, leaving it behind
Then within the army of King Manouchehr
The warriors and soldiers took their way
When Selim reached the shore of the sea
He saw not the ship passing on that route
The plain became so filled with the slain and the weary
That the way became hard for the traveler to tread
Filled with rage and hatred, the new leader
Sat upon his swift steed, eager to ride
He hurled his spear into the enemy ranks and charged
And within the army, the steed began to stir
Then he reached the narrow pass of the King of Rome
He cried out, 'O man, wicked and unjust'
You killed your brother for the sake of a crown
You’ve found your head, how far will you go on your path?
Now I have brought your crown, O King, and throne
The tree of that royal king has borne fruit
Do not shy away from the crown of greatness
Fereydoun has once again adorned you with a new
The tree you nurtured has now borne fruit
You shall now find it standing beside you
If its fruit is thorny, you have killed it yourself
And if it is silken, you have woven it yourself
He rode his horse through the discourse
Each reached a tight place within him
One struck quickly with a sword on his neck
And his royal body was split in two
He ordered that his head be removed
And hoisted it on a spear high into the clouds
The army stood, astonished by him
At his strength and the power of the warrior's arm
All of Selim's army, like a flock of sheep
Were scattered as the winds of time blew
The groups departed one by one
Scattered across the plain, sea, and mountain
A wise man, of pure intellect
Who spoke with eloquence and skillful words
They said, 'Go to the King Manouchehr'
So that the army may grow warm and the words of the army may be heard
Say, 'We are of humble rank'
We shall serve the earth only at his command
Some are masters of livestock
Some are masters of farming and homes
We have come to this battlefield as an army
Not seeking vengeance out of desire
Now, we are all the king's servants
Our hearts and souls filled with his love
If his intention is war and bloodshed
We do not have the strength to resist
We will bring all leaders before the king
We will offer him our innocent heads
He will act according to his desire
In this matter, our innocent lives are his
The wise man said these words
The commander listened attentively
He replied, 'I will fulfill my desire
I will throw it to the ground and raise my name'
Whatever is not on the divine path
If it is from the devil's hand
May it be far from my sight
May the devil's body suffer in misery
If you all hold grudges against me
Or if you are my friends and allies
When the victorious one granted us the throne
The guilty were revealed from the innocent
Now is the day of justice, oppression has ended
The leaders' heads are free from execution
Seek love and cast spells
Remove the instruments of war from your bodies
A cry arose from the royal chamber
O fortunate-minded warriors
From now on, do not spill blood in vain
For the fortune of the wrongdoers has turned
All the army's equipment and war gear
They took it near the son of Pashang
The commander Manuchehr honored them
He set them up according to their rank
He sent Shiravi to the fort
The world-experienced, world-seeking man
He commanded that the desired goal be attained
Look at everything, wherever you find it in its rightful place
That wish was brought before the mighty elephants
Adorned at the doorstep of the king
He commanded that the golden trumpet and horn
Be sounded and the eight curtains of the palace be lowered
The army was drawn from the sea towards the Hamun
And from Hamun, they were led towards Afridun
When they came near the Tamisha pass again
They saw Nia, in need of a meeting with him
From the door came the wail of the horn’s sound
And the entire army trembled and moved from their place
All the backs of the elephants were adorned with victorious thrones
The victorious leader adorned with a prosperous fortune
What with a golden cradle covered in Chinese silk
And adorned with gems, so splendidly
What with banners of every kind, shining brightly
The world was turned red, yellow, and purple
From the Caspian Sea, like a black cloud
The army kept arriving in droves
When the army came near the King
Fereydoun came to meet them along the way
All the men of Gilan were like free lions
With golden collars and black, fragrant heads
Behind the king were the Iranians
The brave ones, each like a lion of the jungle
In front of the army were elephants and lions
And behind them, the war elephants and brave heroes
The banner, waving brightly, appeared in sight
Manouchehr's army lined up in ranks
The new leader dismounted from his steed
A newly blossoming tree, full of fresh fruit
He kissed the earth and praised it
On the crown, throne, and the ring with a gem
Fereydoun commanded that he sit upon it
He kissed it and laid his head down in his hands
Then he turned his face towards the sky
O righteous judge, the true speaker
You said, 'I am the just and righteous judge'
I help the oppressed with harshness
You gave both justice and judgment
You gave both the crown and the ring
Then he ordered that King Manuchehr
Sat on the golden throne with a crown
Commander Shiravi, with treasures
Came adorned to the king's court
Then he ordered that King Manuchehr
Granted everything to the entire army
When this was done, the fortune turned
The leaves of the royal tree withered
He withdrew from the crown and throne
Placing the heads of the three kings on himself
With a heart full of blood and tears on both sides
Thus until the end of time for him
Fereydun passed away, and his name remained
This long era came to an end
The same good name and truth
Which, O son, he valued more than loss
Manuchehr placed the Kian crown
And tied a blood-stained belt around his waist
He built a tomb according to the kings' custom
Made of red gold and lapis lazuli
They placed an ivory throne underneath
And hung a crown above the ivory
They went forward to bid him farewell
As was the custom and tradition
They closed the tomb on the king
That noble one departed from the world, weak and wretched
O world, full of deceit and wind
The wise man is not happy with you
