Section 21: From that place the king led the army

From that place, the king led the army

He marched towards Iran, and Rostam remained

So that Zavareh would come from the road

And bring him news of that army

When Zavareh came at dawn

Rostam led the army at the same time

Then he headed towards Zabulistan

When news of him reached Dastan

All of Sistan came to meet him

They came with hardship, pain, and sorrow

When Dastan-e Sam saw the coffin

He dismounted his gold-stirruped horse

Tahmtan (Rostam) walked ahead on foot

His clothes all torn, his heart wounded

All the warriors loosened their belts (in mourning)

All bowed their heads to the ground before the coffin

Zal kept saying, this is a wondrous deed

That Sohrab wielded the heavy mace

He became a sign among the great ones

No mother will give birth to one like him in the world

He kept saying this and filled his eyelashes with tears

His tongue filled with talk of Sohrab

When Tahmtan came to his own palace

He cried out and placed the coffin before him

He removed the nails from it and opened the lid

He separated the shroud from him before his father

He showed his body to those famous ones

You would say that smoke rose from the sky

The great ones of the world tore their garments

Heads covered in dust and dirt rose to the clouds

The entire palace was a coffin from end to end

The male lion slept within the box

You would say it was Sam with his mane and strength

Who had become grieved by war and gone to sleep

He covered him again with yellow brocade

He fastened the lid of the narrow coffin

He kept saying, even if I make a golden tomb

And adorn it with black musk around it

When I am gone, it will not remain in its place

Otherwise, I myself have no other opinion

He made a tomb for him from the hooves of steeds

A world became blind from lamentation

Thus spoke Bahram, the eloquent

Do not become acquainted with the dead

You will not remain here for long

Be prepared and do not delay

One day, the turn of your father was given to you

It is fitting that your turn will come to an end

Such it is, and its secret has not become apparent

You will not find it, why do you seek a key in vain?

No one knows how to open a closed door

With this suffering, your life will be wasted

It is a tearful story

The delicate heart becomes angry with Rostam

Upon this story, I have constructed words

I have turned to the tale of Siavash
