Section 4: After that, the world-seeker with a weary heart
After that, the world-conqueror, weary at heart,
Sent forth a man like a bird on the wing.
He quickly sent to the land of Zabul,
To Dastan and Rostam, greeting.
Now his eyes are dark and his fortune is bleak,
His crown and throne have fallen to the dust.
My weary heart is in the grip of the evil one,
It will tear my wretched soul from my body.
When I recall your advice,
I bring a cold wind from my heart.
I did not heed your wise words,
And due to my ignorance, harm befell me.
If you did not bind yourself in this bad situation,
All the profit would be the cause of loss.
When the messenger reached near Dastan,
He said what he knew, saw, and heard.
The treasure and the famous army,
Adorned like a flower in the spring.
All the revolving heavens surrendered to fate,
As if the wind had come and carried it away.
When he heard this, he tore his skin in grief,
He hid this from his enemy, as well as from his friend.
With a clear heart, he saw the evil from afar,
What will come to pass in this world.
Dastan Sam said this to Rostam,
The sword is sheathed and short in the scabbard.
We should not cry and weep after this,
Or else, we will cultivate the throne for ourselves.
The king of the world is at the mercy of the dragon,
For the Iranians, what a great calamity this is.
Now, you must mount your steed,
And seek revenge with the sword of the world.
Indeed, for this day and age,
The Creator has nurtured you.
This evil task should not be done,
You will find peace, but only if you speak.
Make your statement as firm as a tiger,
Awaken from sleep and focus your thoughts.
Any body that saw your sharp sword with its eyes,
Would say that his soul was at peace.
If you wage war on the sea, it will turn into blood,
At your voice, the mountain of Hamun will tremble.
Erjang and the White Demon should never hope for life from you,
They should never have hope for their souls from you.
Now the neck of the King of Mazandaran,
Break it all with a heavy mace.
Rostam gave this reply, that the way,
Is long and I will become vengeful.
Regarding this kingship, Zal said to him,
There are two paths, and both lead to suffering and calamity.
One of the two paths is the one that Kaous took,
The other is a mountain path with two peaks.
It is full of demons and lions and filled with darkness,
Your eyes will remain clouded by its terror.
Choose the shorter path, and you will see wonders,
For your companion will be the creator of the world.
Though it is hard, it will pass,
You will follow your fortunate steed.
The dark night will pass until the day breaks,
I will pray to the pure Lord.
Perhaps I will once again see your face and mane,
The same arm and strength of your hand.
And if your wits are also in the hands of the devil,
It will rise by the command of the Lord of the world.
Someone can halt this speech,
But if it is left behind, it must be left.
It will not remain in anyone's grasp,
They will call it, even though it stays forever.
Someone who has a great name in the world,
Will not be sad about leaving.
Thus, Rostam said to his joyful father,
That I am bound by the command of the belt.
But to sink into hell by foot,
The great ones of the past never saw a solution.
The same goes for those who are weary of their own body,
No one will approach a hungry lion.
Now I have tied my belt and am ready to strike,
I desire no one but the just to seize me.
I will sacrifice body and soul for the commander,
I will break the spell of the hearts of sorcerers.
Anyone who is alive from the Iranians,
I will bring them and tie the belt around their waist.
I will not remain like Erjang or the White Demon,
Nor like a stone, steel, or ironwood.
In the name of the Creator, one God,
For Rostam will not let his steed's feet falter.
Unless Erjang's hand is bound like a stone,
And thrown upon his neck in a net.
The head and brain of steel will be under his feet,
As his steed takes the earth beneath.
He put on the tiger skin and raised its mane,
And Zal gave his blessings abundantly.
When Rostam brought his foot onto the steed,
The steed's color remained in place, and its heart was as strong.
Rudabeh arrived, her face covered in water,
And Dastan wept sorrowfully upon her.
He said to her, 'O noble mother,'
I did not choose this path for my desires.
You leave me in your sorrow,
What do you hope for from God?
I came like this as the gift of fate,
Keep my life and soul safe.
They went to farewell him,
Knowing they would see him no more.
Time will pass in this manner,
The wise man will count his moments.
Every bad day that passed with you,
For that day, the world flourished.
