Section 6: After that, the army rested for two days

Then the army rested for two days, at ease

Three days more, the sun's light began to seize

The king’s fate could no longer endure the fight

In misery, he had to prepare for war’s blight

Against the army of Nozar and Afrasiab’s crew

Like a turbulent sea and river waters too

A roar came from the palace’s veil

With the drum’s cry and a Hindu’s wail

The herald came forth from the king’s domain

And placed on his head an iron crown’s strain

At the palace gate, Afrasiab’s men stood tall

None slept, no head bowed or did fall

All night, they arranged the army's array

Sharpening swords and spears, ready to slay

The earth, from mountain to mountain, wore its armor

They marched with heavy maces, no calmer

The mountain was hidden, lost in sand and stone

They stretched their ropes from sea to sea, unknown

Qaran made ready, his heart with might

To stand by the king, as the army’s light

To the king’s left, Talyeman did stand

And to his right, Shapur’s strong hand

From dawn till dusk, the earth did spin

Mountains, seas, and plains were lost in the din

The heart of the sword seemed to grow and swell

The earth cried under the horses' spell

When the spears cast shadows on the ground

The clash came forward, where wealth was found

When fate’s dark arrow struck in its way

The Turks took hold, their might held sway

Where Shapur the unyielding stood

The throng scattered as if misunderstood

Shapur fought on until his life was spent

The fate of the Iranians was now rent

From the throngs of the Turks, fierce in their fight

They turned toward the village, ready for night

Night and day, wars followed his path

Yet, for a while, he paused amidst the wrath

When Nozar, with his eight feet, entered the fort

The path for the mounted warriors was shut and caught

Afrasiab’s cavalry, armed and arrayed

Seized by the battle’s pause, they quickly swayed

He remembered a famous Turk with a call

The commander, Kurokhan, of noble descent, tall

He commanded to march towards Persia’s land

Through the desert path, they took their stand

From that side, the Iranians must retreat

They seek shelter, broken and beat

When Qaran heard Afrasiab’s move so sly

He sent his army at the hour of sleep, nigh

He burned with envy, his heart full of rage

And like a tiger, he leapt toward Nozar’s cage

That Turanian king, the man of disgrace

See what he did to the king of Iran’s face

To those who wear armor in the army’s path

He sent a troop without mercy’s wrath

If he takes the camp through cunning or might

The heroes will fall, lost in the fight

The shame inside will cause the head to hide

And with Kurokhan, he must surely collide

You have food and water to sustain

And an army that follows you through pain

Remain strong, don’t let your heart turn bad

For among kings, bravery is the best clad

Now I shall follow this army’s way

And seize them, blocking every path they lay

Nozar replied, 'This plan is not wise'

For with you, the army cannot rise

For the shelter, Gostaham and Tus did go

And then the sound of drums did blow

Soon, they arrived in the camp’s deep shade

And arranged their things as was fitting and laid

They sat at the table, desiring a feast

For a while, their hearts were eased, at least

Then, they headed towards Qaran’s home

Their eyes became like clouds in a storm

They cast words in all directions, deep and wide

And placed a single word, without divide

We must march towards Persia, it’s clear

We should not rest in this place, my dear

When the Iranian army covers its face

The prisoners shall be taken by those full of disgrace

Who will take up the spear in this field

Who can find peace, a seat to yield?

As Shidoosh, Keshvad, and Qaran together met

They debated, weighing the good and the threat

When half the night passed, its time grew long

The brave ones prepared, and made their song

The keeper of the fortress, Gajdaham, did rise

The brave ones, awake, joined him, with their eyes

From the fort of Barman, the army advanced

With war drums and elephants, they boldly danced

Qaran, the warrior, was weary and worn

With his brother’s blood still on his waist, torn

He rose like a lion against Barman's face

Time offered no chance for him to chase

A spear was thrust into his belt with might

And shattered his foundation, ending his fight

The army’s morale was broken, so weak

They turned from one another, their spirits bleak

The commander faced Persia, his path set

With renowned warriors, ready to fight yet
