Section 9: And others who had come from the city of Arman
And those who left the city of Arman
With hatred, they moved towards Zabulistan
Shamasas, who had passed beyond the Jihon
Set his face towards Sistan and hastened on
Khazravans, with thirty thousand sword-wielders
From the Turks, great ones with daggers prepared
They marched awake, to the Hirmand river
With swords and maces, their fortune delivered
For Zal, their father, with sorrow and pain
They made a tomb for him in the Gurab plain
In the city, within, was Mehrab, the guide
He was enlightened, restless, and open-eyed
A messenger came from him with news
Towards Shamasas, he set his face to choose
He came down before the tent's front door
From Mehrab, he gave many greetings and more
That the alert-hearted king of Turan's host
Shall remain, with his crown, forever proud and boast
We are of the race of the Arab Dhahhak
And in this kingship, not fully glad
With unity, I bought my soul in this war
I saw no other way to settle the score
Now this abode and my seat are mine
Zabulistan, by my hand, shall shine
When Dastan came from there, sorrow-stricken
For the praise of Sam, the knight, was given
My heart was glad at his care for him
And I hope to never see his face grow dim
I will ask of the renowned hero's time
To send a swift messenger in his prime
A man of keen mind and swift pace
I will send him close to Afrasiyab’s space
So that he might be aware of my hidden plan
And the speaker's words may be brief, as they began
I will send gifts, as is appropriate and due
Anything else, from the king’s door, too
If he says, 'Come to me,' with no delay
I shall not approach, except before his throne to stay
I shall entrust the whole kingship to the swift
And always keep my heart light and swift
I will not bring the hero's body to pain
I will send him treasures, in every gain
Thus, I bound the hero's heart with care
And with that, he reached for a solution, fair
Nawandi cast himself near Zal with speed
Like a bird, he spread his wings and took the lead
Tell the hands of what you saw in the fight
Say to him not to fear for his flight
That two heroes came, prepared for war
From the Turks, an army like a vast field, a lion's roar
Two armies drew near to the Hirmand plain
With their gold, I bound their feet in chains
If you speak for a moment of their arrival
It will arise as a sign of distrust’s revival
