Section 9 - The Story of Dakiki the Poet: When there are many stories from this book
When many stories from this book were read,
The reader recited them to all who were led.
The world placed its heart in these stories so wise,
So did the wise and the righteous arise.
A youth arrived with a mouth open wide,
He spoke well, with an eloquent tide.
I’ll put this letter in verse, said he,
The gathering’s heart was filled with glee.
Youth’s nature was wicked, a companion so vile,
He fought with evil, always in denial.
Death suddenly struck, without any heed,
It placed him at the end, in a darkened deed.
With that bad nature, his sweet life was spent,
Not a single day of youth in content.
One by one, his fortunes turned astray,
By the hand of a servant, he met his last day.
He departed, and this letter remained unsaid,
Just like his waking luck, it stayed in bed.
O God, forgive his sins, we plea,
And grant him dignity in the afterlife, set free.
