Ghazal No. 200: What is the name of a camel in Turkish, say medicine
Tell me, what is the name of the camel in Turkish?
What is the name of its young? It is the cure itself.
We are born of destiny, and destiny is the mother of all
Like children, we have run after destiny
We drink milk from it, and we all fly before it
Whether it rushes to the East and West or towards the sky
The drum of travel is in (our) hand, we place our foot on the journey
In the protection, and in the support, and in the inviolability of God
In the city and in the desert, we are companions of that moon
O soul, (we are) the slave and servant of that moon with a beautiful face
There is the city where that king draws souls
There is the house and dwelling where (He) says, 'God, come!'
The desert becomes short because it is his qibla (direction of prayer)
Before and after (it) there is a meadow and a captivating cypress
The mountain that comes in the way also bends its back
(Saying), 'O messengers of the mine of glory, welcome!'
The rocky path becomes as soft as silk
Since He is the guide of that path and the leader
We, like a shadow, have run after that moon
O like-hearted and accompanying friends, the call to prayer!
Whoever has an excuse makes the heart our companion
Because the heart is light and nimble and swift-footed
The heart goes to Egypt, for it has no fear of the ship
The heart goes to Mecca, for it does not seek the rein
It is from the lameness of the body and the agility of the heart
That the truth is not sought from the body, but that fidelity is sought from the heart
But where is that body that has become the color of the soul?
It has become water and clay upon the souls of kings
Souls are astonished, (saying) 'Look at this barren earth!'
It has exceeded our limit and become a kingdom and a leader
What place is there for a leader, for where he has arrived
If we set foot forward, we will burn in misery
This was not in our expectation, we were taunting him
Do not look down upon any man, O king
We, like water, will flow in the mud and basil
So that the thirsty soils may bring forth plants from us
The burning-livered earth is without hands and feet for water
For this reason, those streams of water run quickly
The breast of water pricks, because it is its nurse
The child of the plant seeks a nurse everywhere
Us, such attractions have drawn (us) from the city of the soul
Through a hundred thousand stages to the world of annihilation
Again, messengers arrive from the world of the soul
Hidden and manifest, return to your relatives
You have taken new friends and abandoned us
We are unwell without you, even if you are well with us
O master, this weariness of yours is from the sigh of relatives
With whomever you become paired, it will separate you
Be silent, for their aspiration is after you
The effects of aspiration are the vicissitudes of affliction
