Ghazal No. 216: I will go to the tailor shop of lovers tomorrow
Tomorrow I will go to the workshop of the tailor of lovers
I, with a long-robed garment, with a thousand yards of passion
He will tear you away from Yazid and sew you onto Zayd
With this one he will make you a pair, and with that other, Azra
He will sew you with that one, upon whom you will set your heart for all your life
What silk and stitches, what a white hand (of Moses)!
When you have completely set your heart (on someone), he will tear (you) apart from separation
With the rare wound of the scissors, 'Descend from here!'
From his gathering and separating, I became astonished
In establishing and erasing, like the changing color of a passionate heart
The heart is a tablet full of earth, he is the engineer of hearts
What forms and writings and truths and names!
When he multiplies you by another, like a number
What result does he make appear from his multiplication?
When you have seen multiplication, now come and see division
How he divided a drop in the sea
Through algebra, he made all opposites confront each other
Be silent, for thought is broken by these wonders
