Ghazal No. 221: You grabbed my ear, where are you pulling me to
You have taken my ear, where are you dragging me?
Tell me what is in your heart, what is your resolve?
What pot have you cooked for me, O dear one, last night?
God knows what the passion of love is
Since the ear of the sky and the earth and the stars is in your hand
Where will they go except to where you have said, 'Come!'
You have taken two ears of mine, and everyone (else has) one ear
That I strike from the root both ears, seeking eternity
A slave grows old, his master sets him free
When I grew old, (he) made me a slave from the beginning
It is not children who rise white-haired on Judgment Day
Your Judgment Day has made old men black-haired
When you revive the dead, (and) make the old young
I have become silent and am engaging in prayer
