Ghazal No. 230: From the burning desire, my heart keeps sighing
From the burning longing of my heart, it cries aloud
That perchance there may reach it a call from the presence of union
The heart is like Husayn and separation is like Yazid
(It) has been martyred two hundred times in the plain of Karbala
Martyred in appearance, it has become alive in the unseen
Captive in the eyes of the enemy, and a king in secret
(It) resides between the paradise and the highest paradise of the friend's union
Freed from the hardship of the prison of hunger, cheapness, and high prices
If the root of its tree were not ingrained within the unseen
Why has the blossom of its union bloomed so fully?
Be silent, and be from the side of the speaking conscience
For the speaking universal soul will tell you 'Afla' (higher things)
