You give justice to the goblet and the measure

You provide sustenance to the assembly and the tavern

You intoxicate the languid narcissus

You present that precious idol

Except from Your lordship, who can grant

Patience and peace to this mad heart

Raise your sword, O sun

Give light to this ruined corner

You are the Qaf, the dwelling of the Simorgh

You are the candle for the soul like a moth

Open the fountain of life on every side

Relate that tale and legend

Intoxicate, O cupbearer, and put to work

This foreign, infidel body

If it does not tame such a demon

Then what happened to that manly goblet

How can it bring a half-heart, when it

Degrades a hundred wise hearts

What a delightful assembly it is since this morning

That idol and the alluring sedition

Your eye breaks a hundred promises

Your tress intoxicates a hundred combs

For a moment, ascend to the roof, O idol

Bring the Hananeh pillar to dance
