Ghazal No. 257: Now the ruby of his lips has given justice to me
His ruby lips have now given me
What makes you ruby-like, makes me so too
The smiling rosebush said with heart and soul
You have a leaf's worth of favor, come into the rose garden
If He has not bought the world from sorrow
Why did God give the tidings of 'He has bought'?
The world is cramped and dazed in the house's foundation
Quickly come up to the roof of the palace
The form of fortune, scattering sugar, said
Since sugar is not scarce, why complain?
The goblet arrived gracefully in hand
My pride and the pride of all beyond
The permissible cup has come, come drink
With armor against the past and events
When the first goblet rises like smoke over your head
Reason will prostrate itself to your madness
Do not reveal, do not reveal the secrets of the Throne
In a word born from beneath the earth
