Ghazal No. 317: The friend came for peace, oh companions
The beloved has come in peace, O companions
Why are you sitting at the door?
The turn of separation and waiting has passed
So enter the house, O people of understanding
The sun of beauty has opened the chest
So take off your clothes in its rays
The etiquette of love is all impoliteness
The mother of love is their love of etiquette
The wine of love broke shame and name
You see neither heads nor tails
The pleasure of love mixed with the brain
Like the mingling of slaves with lords
The daughters of the conscience are intoxicated
In the midst of the garden of hearts and the waterwheel
If you are not privy to the conscience
Then ask them from behind a veil
Shams of Tabriz, the cup of love is from you
And take the liver for the wine as kebab
