Ghazal No. 334: From the beginning of today, the companions of the tavern
From the beginning of today, the companions of the tavern
Are your guests, O king and sultan of the tavern
What day is today, tell me, a day of happiness
Who is this qibla of the heart, tell me, O soul of the tavern
The heart of lovers is never under anyone's command
For it is intoxicated and ruined, under the command of the tavern
A hundred Venuses came forth from secrets with a voice
Rise from the cloud, O radiant moon of the tavern
We fear nothing from the lip and teeth of death
Since we have come to life from the laughing idol of the tavern
The intoxicated soul sets its belongings on an ox and comes to love
For these belongings, pawn them at the doorkeeper of the tavern
Every soul that gives its heart to Shams of Tabriz, the truth
He is a disbeliever in himself and a Muslim of the tavern
