Ghazal No. 368: I will speak of your sugarcane words
Shall I speak of your sugar-candy words?
Or the tale of the fountain of your life?
If you place your face upon my face, I will tell
For what reason the king made you checkmate
He cast a fire into your harvest
That from your own harvest, He may give your alms
He will make your vegetable garden green like leeks
So that He may buy back your nonsense
In the fire of love, like Khalil (Abraham)
Be happy, for He is giving you salvation
Your intellect saw the Night of Power and a hundred feasts
For your decree was torn by love
I swear by your subtle shadow
I do not swear by your essence
How can souls reach your essence?
Since they are drowned in your attributes
He made you flowing and prostrating like a stream
So that He may cleanse you of your sins
From every direction, He gave you affliction
So that He may draw you back to your placelessness
You said I would be silent, but you did not
Love is laughing at your steadfastness
