Ghazal No. 375: What fear does the lover have from the path
What fear does the lover have of the path?
Since the ancient one is the lover's companion
What fear is there of the soul's departure?
For him whose companion is the God of the soul
He is on a journey, but like the moon
He resides in his own beautiful appearance
When does he wait for the breeze?
He who is lighter than the breeze
Love and lover are one, O soul
So that you do not think they are two halves
When the love of the lover becomes true
He is both his own benefactor and his own bliss
He in seeking such truthfulness
Is like leather before Canopus
When he went into the sea in this seeking
He is a pearl, even if he is an orphan
O eye, see generosity from Shams Tabriz
Do not say that Hatim is generous
