Ghazal No. 380: That master, though he has sharp ears
Although that master is sharp-eared
Contend with him, for he is a high-priced seller
I am deceived by his weak smile
I became safe because he is silent
Beware, for he is water under straw
He is a sea that is boiling beneath the straw
Wherever you go, caution is the key
What can you do here, where the lock is intelligence?
He looks at your face and laughs
Do not be proud, for he is a face-coverer
Every heart that falls into his grasp
Like a harp, is always in clamor
With all this, souls, like bees
Circle around him, for he is nectar
He is a lion that sorrow, from his awe
Resides in the grave like a mouse
Shams Tabriz is the day of cash
Why is the world in the talk of yesterday?
