Ghazal No. 391: Oh musician, play this tune, for our friend has come intoxicated
O musician, play this melody, for our beloved has come intoxicated
And that pure-hearted, faithful life has come intoxicated
If he wears the garment of wrath, I will recognize him like a spark
For he has come to us intoxicated many times in this manner
If he spills our water or breaks the jug
O brother, do not utter a word, for this moment the water-carrier has come intoxicated
I deceive my intoxicated self, he smiles
See this pure-hearted one, from where he has come intoxicated
You deceive him whose least word
Water and fire are beside themselves, and earth and air have come intoxicated
I said to him, 'If I die, will you come to my grave?'
I will leap from my grave, for that beautiful-faced one has come intoxicated
He said, 'He who accepts this moment, his soul will not die'
He who comes intoxicated from God remains with God
See the unconditioned love that fills the soul like a cup
See the face of the cupbearer, smiling from eternity, has come intoxicated
Our beloved is love, and everyone in the world has chosen a beloved
From 'Alast' this love has come intoxicated without us and you
