Ghazal No. 392: If that happy soul did not see this garden, what is happiness?
غزل شماره ۳۹۲: گر ندید آن شادجان این گلستان را شاد چیست
If that joyful soul did not see this rose garden, what is the joy?
If it were not for his grace, then what is the foundation of pleasure?
گر ندید آن شادجان این گلستان را شاد چیست
گر نه لطف او بود پس عیش را بنیاد چیست
If the tavern of eternity was not filled with the radiance of his face
Then what are thousands of hermitages in the annihilation of the soul?
گر خرابات ازل از تاب رویش پر نگشت
پس هزاران صومعه در محو جان آباد چیست
If our soul and his love have not grown from one place
Then what is our fortunate soul, the twin of his love?
جان ما با عشق او گر نی ز یک جا رستهاند
جان بااقبال ما با عشق او همزاد چیست
If it were not the rays of that face that gave beauty
Then what is the injustice in the court of lovers?
گر نه پرتوهای آن رخسار داد حسن داد
پس به دیوان سرای عاشقان بیداد چیست
If the dwellers of water and clay are privy to our love
Then what is the clamor and cry inside the dome of the heart?
ساکنان آب و گل گر عشق ما را محرمند
پس درون گنبد دل غلغله و فریاد چیست
If a fire-faced one does not kindle a fire hidden in the soul
Then what is the mind of lovers full of fire and wind?
گر نه آتش میزند آتش رخی در جان نهان
پس دماغ عاشقان پرآتش و پرباد چیست
If souls did not become fire-colored in the placeless
What are hundreds of thousands of torches like the night of birth?
گر نه آتش رنگ گشتی جانها در لامکان
صد هزاران مشعله همچون شب میلاد چیست
If it is not a shortcoming of the soul to be sacrificed in him
What is the immediate favor of the first and the promise and appointment?
گر نه تقصیر است از جان در فدا گشتن در او
لطف نقد اولین و وعده و میعاد چیست
If Shams al-Din Tabrizi is not the king of souls
What are hundreds of thousands of holy souls submissive at every breath?
گر نه شمس الدین تبریزی قباد جانها است
صد هزاران جان قدسی هر دمش منقاد چیست
