Ghazal No. 47: Oh you who are the moon of the sky, where is the moon and where are you

O you who are the moon of the sky, where is the moon and where are you?

Where in the face of the moon would be this grace, glory, and majesty?

All are in love with the moon, and the moon is captive of your love

Lamenting from the pain of you, entreating, "O God!"

The sun and moon prostrate before your fire-like face

When your beauty makes a spectacle with the moon and sun

The moon came last night so that it might prostrate before you

The jealousy of your lovers, shouting, "Do not come!"

Walk gracefully on the earth so that souls may blossom

So that the angel may lower his head from the window of the sky

When a leaping lightning bolt (appears) from your face to every heart

(Everyone) puts (their) hand to (their) eyes to protect (their) sight

Whatever the garden of the heart found of joy and blossoming

From yesterday, this separation has resulted in all of it being in vain

The garden of the soul has become yellow from the sorrow of separation, like autumn

When will your spring arrive so that you may show its display?

My heart, wretched and feeble, slept yesterday at the head of your street

Your image passed by, saw it in that condition

(The image) said, "Tell (me), how are you from this heavy affliction?"

Because from weakness, your body has gone into hiding from (people's) eyes

(The image) spoke and passed by me, but from the delight of that speech

This heart of mine regained health, O Lord, may you give him a reward
