Ghazal No. 191: Who is it that, out of kindness, will remain loyal to us?
Who is it that, out of kindness, will remain faithful to us?
In place of wrongdoing, like me, for a moment, will do good?
First, with the sound of the flute and reed, it will bring his message to the heart
And then, with a cup of wine, it will remain faithful to me
The beloved, from whom my soul is worn out, did not fulfill my heart's desire
One cannot be hopeless of him, perhaps he will console the heart
I said, 'I have not untied the knot of that tress as long as I have been'
He said, 'I have commanded it to be coquettish with you'
The harsh-tempered wool-clad one has not smelled the scent of love
Speak a secret of his intoxication, so that he may abandon sobriety
For a beggar like me, without a sign, it is difficult to find such a companion
Where would a king secretly enjoy with a market libertine?
From that twisted and tangled tress, it is easy if I see injustice
What fear is there of its chains and fetters for anyone who is cunning?
The countless army of sorrow has risen, I seek help from fortune
So that the pride of religion, Abd al-Samad, may be the one who consoles sorrow
With his deceitful eyes, Hafez, do not make a move towards him
For his dark tress is very coquettish
