Ghazal No. 252: If there were life, I would visit the tavern once more
If I had a life, I would go to the tavern again
I would not do anything else except serve the drunkards
I am happy on the day when I go with tears in my eyes
To pour water in the tavern one more time
There is no knowledge of God in this people
So that I may take my precious self to another buyer
If the beloved went and did not recognize the right of our old conversation
God forbid that I would follow another beloved
If the blue wheel of fortune is favorable to me
I will take it again with another compass
My heart seeks comfort if they leave me
The coquetry of the beloved and that beautiful tress
The secret that was told to us in secret
Is told every time with the drum and the flute in the market
I cry out in pain every moment, for the sky every hour
Tries to harm my heart with its cruelty
I will say again, Hafez is not alone in this event
Many have been drowned in this desert
