Ghazal No. 339: When the thought of your face passes through the garden of my eyes.
When the image of your face passes through the garden of my eyes
My heart follows the gaze and comes to the window of my eyes
I see no view worthy of your resting place
I am from the world, and this corner is the appointed place of my eyes
Come, for rubies and jewels are scattered at your arrival
From the treasure house of my heart, I draw to the window of my eyes
At dawn, my flowing tears had the head of ruin
If not, the hem of my eyes would have been stained with the blood of my liver
On the first day I saw your face, my heart said
If any harm comes, my blood is on the neck of my eyes
By the scent of the good news of union with you, until dawn last night
I placed the bright lamp of my eyes on the path of the wind
By the humanity that the sorrowful heart of Hafez
Do not strike with the heart-piercing arrow of your people-destroying eyes
