Ghazal No. 406: He said, you went out to gaze at the new moon.
غزل شماره ۴۰۶: گفتا برون شدی به تماشای ماه نو
He said, you went out to see the new moon
From the moon of your eyebrows, shame be upon your face
گفتا برون شدی به تماشای ماه نو
از ماه ابروان منت شرم باد رو
For a lifetime, your heart is captivated by the prisoners of our locks
Do not be heedless of protecting the side of your companions
عمریست تا دلت ز اسیران زلف ماست
غافل ز حفظ جانب یاران خود مشو
Do not sell the fragrance of intellect to the Indian of our locks
For there, a thousand musk pods are worth half a barleycorn
مفروش عطر عقل به هندوی زلف ما
کان جا هزار نافه مشکین به نیم جو
The seed of loyalty and love in this old barren land
Will become apparent when the season of harvest arrives
تخم وفا و مهر در این کهنه کشته زار
آن گه عیان شود که بود موسم درو
O cupbearer, bring wine, for I will tell you a secret
About the ancient stars and the new moon
ساقی بیار باده که رمزی بگویمت
از سر اختران کهن سیر و ماه نو
The shape of the crescent at the beginning of each month gives a sign
From the crown of Siamak and the Turk's hat
شکل هلال هر سر مه میدهد نشان
از افسر سیامک و ترک کلاه زو
Hafez, the sanctuary of loyalty is the court of the old Magian
Read the lesson of the tale of love to him and listen from him
حافظ جناب پیر مغان مامن وفاست
درس حدیث عشق بر او خوان و ز او شنو
