Bring wine and again release me from my hangover,

For it is with wine that one can دفع رنجوری (ward off sickness/melancholy).

In no way can the lamp of a gathering of intimacy be found,

Except with the face of the beloved and grape wine.

Do not be at all deceived by the captivating enchantment of the flirtatious glance,

For I have tested it, and arrogance had no benefit.

O learned one, how much will you advise that I should not gamble away love?

For, O learned one, this advice is of no avail.

The soul of a man of heart lives by love,

If you do not have love, go, for you are excused.

With one deception, I lost my righteousness,

Alas for all that asceticism and hidden righteousness!

The fortune of union has arrived, and the hardship of separation has passed,

The land of the heart has again turned towards prosperity.

Hafez, one cannot tell his pain to everyone,

Tell it to one who has endured the hardship of distance.
