No. 40: At night, from the minstrel who had a joyous heart.
At night, from the musician whose heart is happy,
I heard the heart-rending cry of the reed flute.
His music affected my burning heart so much
That I saw nothing without tenderness/sympathy.
The cupbearer was a good companion for me that night,
Who revealed the sun of fidelity through (your) tresses and face.
When he saw my eagerness, he added (wine) to the cup,
I said to the cupbearer with the auspicious footsteps.
You released me from the bonds of existence,
When you poured the cup of wine successively.
When Hafez became selfless/ecstatic, who would count
The kingdom of Kay Kavus for a barley grain?
