English Translation for Ghazal

Fortunate is the one whose destiny is tied to you,
For they shall never age, dwelling in paradise anew.

I’ll abandon prayer in that direction henceforth,
If you signal that your gaze is the new north.

A mirror has been placed before the blazing sun,
Or perhaps it’s the radiance of your brow’s reflection spun.

Erase all thought from the tablet of my mind’s scene,
Love’s mark will remain, engraved like a royal seal serene.

I withdrew from the world, yet found no respite,
For your sidelong glance torments the recluse’s quiet.

Do not think I could endure life without your grace,
If I breathe, it’s but the final gasp in this race.

Wherever your beauty’s drum of love is struck,
The cry arises: hearts and faith are seized in its pluck.

Speak not of wealth, gold, or earthly possession,
Your face is the true treasure, earth’s grandest obsession.

A true lover does not perish from the beloved’s blow,
Even molten poison becomes a pure stream’s flow.

Saadi, now that the path to you is known and clear,
To tread another would be astray, an error severe.
