English Translation for Ghazal

Like the flower, every moment I tear my garment with your scent
From my collar to my hem

The flower saw your body as if in a garden
Like the intoxicated, it tore its garment from its body

I can barely bear my life from the pain of your absence
But you easily took my heart from me

You turned away from a friend, following the words of enemies
No one ever becomes an enemy to a friend

Your body in clothing is like wine in a cup
Your heart in your chest is like iron in silver

O tearful candle, weep from your bloody eye
So that the burning of your heart becomes clear to the world

Don’t let a heart-burning sigh rise from my chest
Like smoke through a hole

Don’t break my heart and trample it underfoot
For it has found a home in your locks

Since my heart is bound to your locks, O Hafiz
Don’t throw his affairs underfoot in this way.
